Inauguration of Bangalore Green Kraft Producer Company Pvt. Ltd. (6th July, 2013)

In 2000, Industree Foundation was established with the agenda of developing market led products with rural clusters. Since then over 5000 artisans have been mobilized pan India. The foundation in Bangalore cluster has mobilized 12 Self Help Groups and facilitated the registration of “Bangalore Green Kraft Producer Company” to increase the production capacity and enable the groups to collectively compete with mass production required for businesses across all channels. This collective entity also gives them access to increased finance, social security and host of other benefits. Out of 5 directors, of Green Kraft, 3 are women signifying gender diversity.

Green Kraft is wholly owned and managed by artisans. Out of its 151 members, 70% are women. The program began with a key note address by Mr. Dattatraya (Deputy director DC Handicrafts), followed by felicitation of artisans along with the committed staff of Industree who had been associated with the organization for over five years.

The differentiating factor that sets Industree apart from many other NGO’s is its intent on building leadership capability among the artisan producers. This was well acknowledged and echoed by the feedback from artisans and board members.
